Privacy policy
TallyTrash collects only what it needs to log your food waste and share it with your team. We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking.
Who we are
TallyTrash is run from the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information below. Contact us at hello@tallytrash.com.
What we collect and why
- Your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google or Apple: to sign you in and send your sign-in codes.
- Your first name: to show who logged each item to your team.
- Business name, type and team join code: to set up your business and let staff join it.
- Products, prices, waste logs and their reasons: this is the app’s job, tracking what you bin and what it cost.
- Team members’ emails and names: so the owner can see and manage who is on the team.
- Subscription status (plan and trial dates): to know what you’ve paid for. Card details stay with Apple or Google.
We use this to provide the service you signed up for (our contract with you), and to keep your team secure (our legitimate interest).
Photos you take stay on your phone. They are never uploaded to our servers or shared with your team. When you use Smart scan, the photo and your product list are sent once to Anthropic to suggest the item and amount, then discarded by us.
The Monday summary is a notification your phone schedules itself; we don’t send it from a server.
Who we share it with
We use these companies to run the app. Each only processes data on our instructions.
- Supabase (London, UK): stores your account and team data.
- Resend (United States): sends sign-in code emails.
- Google and Apple: sign-in, if you choose them, and payments through the stores.
- RevenueCat (United States): checks your subscription with the App Store and Google Play.
- Anthropic (United States): reads Smart scan photos, and doesn’t use them to train its models.
Transfers to the United States rely on the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Your data is kept while your account is open. Delete your account in Profile → Delete my account and data and we erase your account, and the business’s data if you are the owner, straight away. Backups clear within 30 days.
Staff removed from a team lose access at once; their past logs stay with the business.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email hello@tallytrash.com and we’ll reply within a month. If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
TallyTrash is for businesses and isn’t meant for anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
